Good Posture Reduces Fatigue

One of the toughest parts of being a truck driver is having to be in a sitting position for long hours at a time with few breaks for stretching. Stretching can be one of the most useful tools for staving off fatigue and keeping a fit and pain free body.

Healthy sitting posture is based on the neutral spine position. Healthy sitting posture is stimulated by slight but constant movement among the core and torso muscles in our bodies. Posture is a result of proper body mechanics which occurs when your spine goes from the healthy neutral position into action. Muscles must be trained so that the physical activity is under control.

Lifting is one of the most dangerous activities for the spine. Lifting in a neutral position allows the larger and more powerful leg muscles to do the lifting.

Positioning your hips and knees at 90 degrees can help you keep a neutral sitting posture. Neutral alignment keeps the muscles, ligaments, and tendons that attach to your spine working together in harmony. Posture exercises help train movement between the pelvis and low back. Exercises that increase flexibility reduce pain, making it easier to keep the spine in the neutral position.
